杨茂发，男，1968年1月出生，贵州石阡人；昆虫学博士，二级教授，博士生导师；贵州大学烟草学院院长。

1988年西南农业大学（现西南大学）植物保护专业获学士学位；1991年西南农业大学昆虫学专业获硕士学位；1998年西南农业大学昆虫学专业获博士学位。2004.10-12，美国North Carolina州立大学高级访问学者。1991年7月至今，贵州大学（原贵州农学院），历任助教、讲师、副教授、教授。

先后主持国家级、省级等各级各类科研项目50项。以第一作者和通讯作者发表论文353篇，其中SCI收录105篇，权威期刊及核心期刊162篇。以第一著者出版专著2部，第二主编和副主编出版专著9部。获批专利56件，其中发明专利7件。获贵州省科技进步奖14项，其中一等奖1项（排名9）、二等奖4项（排名1、3、4、5）、三等奖9项（排名1、1、1、2、3、3、3、3、4）；贵阳市科学技术奖一等奖1项（排名4）；中国植物保护学会科学技术奖二等奖1项（排名1）和三等奖2项（排名1、6）。已培养博士后11名，博士研究生36名、硕士研究生79名。

研究领域： 

叶蝉科（昆虫纲半翅目）和甲螨亚目（蛛形纲蜱螨亚纲疥螨目）系统分类学研究；山地农林害虫综合治理技术；天敌昆虫扩繁与应用技术；虫茶资源开发与利用。

社会任职： 

中国植物保护学会理事，中国昆虫学会昆虫产业化专业委员会副主任，贵州省植物保护学会常务理事、副理事长兼秘书长，贵州省昆虫学会常务理事，生物农药与生物防治产业技术创新战略联盟常务理事，资源昆虫产业国家创新联盟专家委员会委员，国家林业和草原局资源昆虫培育与利用重点实验室学术委员会委员，《应用昆虫学报》和《山地农业生物学报》杂志编委。

Systematics of Hemiptera Cicadellidae and Acari Oribadida. Integrated management of agricultural and forestry pests in mountainous areas. Propagation and application of natural enemy insects. Development and utilization of insect-tea resources.
